We believe that in the beginning of the new century, high-tech development is the driving force for Taiwan's new economic miracle. An indispensable part of this force, the Computer and Communications Research Laboratories (CCL) was founded within the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in 1990.Under ITRI, CCL shoulders the responsibilities of developing computer, communications and consumer electronics (3C) technologies. Foreseeing the convergence of the three technology fields, CCL is among the pioneers to propose the concept of 3C integration.The 3C concept has finally become a consensus of the industry. Moreover, the Technology White Book released by the National Science Council (NSC) of the Executive Yuan (the Cabinet) also set the national technology target of the year 2005 to be an RD and manufacturing hub for the world's 3C integration roducts."Currently, CCL is an important executor of the National Telecommunications Development Project and National E-learning Project. It invests heavily on technologies such as It also integrates information and video broadband development for wireless communications, broadband access, and optical communications.technologies to develop various state- of-the-art key technologies. Its aim is to speed up domestic development in the fields of wireless communications, broadband communications and other high-tech services, and to make Taiwan a "broadband communications high-tech service island."
